What have I done well?
Well over the year I’ve progressively become more confident with using Maya to create a variety of basic and complex models. Recently I completely revamped my 3D environment, making different assets entirely and starting from scratch. In addition to this I’ve formed a somewhat confident understanding of UVing. Furthermore I feel extremely confident with texturing manually and in programs like Quixel.
What haven’t I done well?
While I was working on my future crate I had a lot of trouble with trying to get the UV into ZBrush. This is because I imported the model into ZBrush before UVing (like an idiot) and created the normal. After a week or two however I did come to understand a plugin in ZBrush called UV master that allows for smooth copying and pasting of UVs onto similar models which completely fixed my problem without any loss of detail.
What tools have I learned?
This would be pretty hard to type out every tool but I think Its safe to say at this point that I have a confident understanding when modelling in Maya and rendering in maya/other programs.
What do I wish to improve on or learn?
Well I certainly should do more sculpting because it came far more naturally to me than modelling in Maya. I think if I learned how to correctly apply alphas in ZBrush to help me add finer, more accurate details I would be pretty happy.
